The Island Brief is a free email newsletter that lands three mornings a week, Monday, Wednesday and Friday, with what actually matters here: city and county decisions before they are final, the weekend in one place, the weather in plain language, and the small things a neighbor would mention over the fence.

It is written for people who live here, from Old Town to Yulee, Callahan and Hilliard, and it reads the way a local talks: Centre Street, the island and the mainland, the Observer and the News-Leader on second reference. It is independent, locally produced, and not affiliated with any government body, political party or media company.
